Employment Self-Service (ESS) Utumishi portal, also known as the Watumishi portal, is a digital tool to improve the (efficiency) productivity of the public sector. The government of the United Republic of Tanzania introduced the ESS Utumishi portal to facilitate the public servants of Tanzania as a part of their Tanzania e-Government strategy 2013-2018.
The Watumishi portal facilitates the public servants about Employment details like PEPMIS, download salary slips, e-Loan, service records, Transfer or Job Exchange in Tanzania, application for job leave (regular, vacation, or annual), tax and pension.
Through the Utumishi portal, managers and supervisors can assign job-related tasks to employees and track their progress, while employees can check and update their tasks, progress and performance record.

What is ESS Utumishi?
The ESS Utumishi portal is a digital replacement of paperwork in the public sector of Tanzania. The government of the United Republic of Tanzania’s mission is to digitize the public sector to facilitate the servants.
